What Halloween Means for a Shiba Inu
When this time a year comes around, the humans tend to act weird. We're pretty sure this is nothing new to everydog, but since we are Shiba Inu, we are posting some pictures (2 old ones of us and 2 we found on the Internet, with links to their originals) of what it means to be a Shiba Inu on Halloween....

Akira decked out for Halloweenie

This is what Shiro thinks of pumpkins: Let's try to eat them!
More (yes, even more cruelty to shiba kind):

- Another costume: http://www.flickr.com/photos/16754604@N00/286496268/
And, apparently, a whole set of photos from a gathering specifically instituted for the Halloweenie Humiliation of Shiba kind: Shibaween

Hi Again Bloggy Pals
Hi Doggy-Bloggy Pals,
We've sure missed communicating with all of you! Sis has been taking some pics of us, so we'll share a few select ones with out now. Hopefully we'll be back on here more regularly by next week. The hoomans are going through a rough time right now, so we have to take care of them. This entry has pictures from Christmas Day, 12/25/2006.

Shiba Advertising

Here, we see a video game starring a VIRTUAL Shiba Inu. Aren't REAL Shiba Inu enough, people? What's more, it's only available in Japan! Do they think other nationalities don't like the Shiba??

Here is an alternate ending to the Video Game "Silent Hill 2," where it is revealed that a Shiba Inu is the Mastermind behind the whole plot:
We have even once seen an advertisement for a video game with a Shiba Inu outfitted like Rambo, with bullets and machine gun.
In conclusion, we Shiba Inu dogs should not be used to promote various things, without consulting with us as a whole. Further more, we should be compensated in some way: kibble, treats, free products, etc.
What does everydog think? How have your various breeds been used in advertisements and other media?
Holiday Spirit Dog of the Day Numbers 4 & 5!

These two awesome dogs have to share a post, but they're used to sharing most things by now... food, toys, their humans attention. The Holiday Spirit Dog of the Day: Numbers 4 and 5 are Yoshi and Tsuki, the Shiba Inu!! And no, we are not telling which one is number 4 and which one is number 5. It doesn't matter anyways, every number is equally important!
Anyways, Yoshi and Tsuki are two great Shiba Inu dogs who share updates, product reviews, pictures, and more over on their blog.
Some facts:
- B-Days: Yoshi- Feb. 9, 2003 Tsuki-May 2, 2004
- Breed: Shiba Inu
- Breeder: River Wind Shibas, Maryland
- Goal: Shiba World Domination

Congrats again to our pals, Yoshi and Tsuki!

Shiba-riffic!

(That's even better than Terrific, we think...)
Kikujira pointed us in the direction of a wonderful illustrator, Tatsuro Kiuchi, who, among other subjects, illustrates SHIBA INU! He has graciously granted us permission to feature one of his illustrations here with a link to his website: This is the Shibaken section
Thanks, Kiku! Thanks Tatsuro!!

Holiday Spirt Dog of the Day #1
Our new ongoing (until Dec 31, 2006) feature is a spotlight on the "Holiday Spirit Dog of the Day." We will try to add a new dog each day until December 31st, but we might have to add several in one day to catch up if we skip a day.
For our first winner, on 13 December 2006, we have: Kikujira the Shiba Inu!
No, the judges were not biased by her breed, and once you see her picture, we think you will agree with our choice.
Finally, without further ado, may we present, KIKUJIRA!
Kiku is a one-year-old female Shiba living in San Diego, California. She was born with a curvy spine, but doesn't let that slow her down at all! Kiku enjoys sleeping, belly rubs, playing soccer and keep-away, chasing other dogs at the dog park, getting them to chase her, and treats. She is also quite adept at destroying toys. Kiku's wish list for Santa Paws includes: Stuffed toys (to destroy !!), dog biscuits, and a trip to the snow.

Imported Shiba Inu Gifts
We still need to scan the Shiba-a-week calendar our dear friend Nobuko sent us from Japan, but meanwhile, we have found some interesting Shiba Inu items currently for sale in Japan. This first installment will bring you some items only featured on the Japanese language website of http://www.hanadeka.com. Hanadeka means big-nosed and these items are extreme close-ups, much like "The Dog" items in the U.S. First we have the calendar:

Next, Shiba stickers:

Finally, what appears to be a Shiba puzzle!

These items can be seen by going to the Japanese version of Hanadeka, then clicking on the button on the left hand side that also says "Goods" in English to get to the store.
According to a Japanese friend, the price on the calendar is 714yen(about $6.50), but we don't know if they ship to the U.S. or not.

Another Update
dear friends,
we had to switch over to blogger beta because all new accounts are put on blogger beta, so that's what our human grandfather's new blog is on, and he wanted some advice on how to use it, but we didn't know since we were on the orginal blogger. but now we're on beta and some things are screwed up, like our posts now signed by our Sis! but the beta is more user friendly in some regards- if you don't know html it's easier to edit your template now. but if we switch our template over, it said we could lose stuff we already put in it, so we're not switching this blog over- our Sis can use it for her own blog!
Speaking of Sis, she picked us up from our R&R on Friday morning. We were so happy to see her! Dad dropped us off with Sis and Mom a little ways from our house so we could walk around the neighborhood and mark everything again so all the neighbor dogs and cats knew we were home and it still belonged to us! Then we had to make the house smell like us again. They actually washed the couches for some bizzare reason, so we had to rub ourselves all over them and flip upside down on them and walk on top of the backs of them until they smelled good again. Then we had to play with Sis, and then we were exhausted so we all took a nap. But Sis stayed up really late with us until she fell asleep on the couches with us and woke up at 1 am and went to her bed. Then she came down at 5AM and curled up with us to sleep some more. It was fun to spend lots of time with her! She doesn't even mind that her jeans got covered in our fur cause we're molting again. We shed all of our under fur a couple times a year (Mom says it seems like all year long), but it's really noticeable now, coming off in handfuls when we're petted. Sis used the brush and the mitt thing, but it didn't really make much of a difference. Oh, one more thing before we sign off and get some more sleep. Sis found a sheet of stickers at the dollar general store that had three shiba inu stickers on it! Two red and one black. We never see much Shiba stuff here- only once saw a shiba calendar at Petco, and once an issue of Dog Fancy had a Shiba on the cover, so we were excited. We'll try to scan them in for you soon,
Missed reading all our friends blogs....
(I'm feeling much better but Shiro threw up a little this morning- Akira)
