Trip to the v-e-t

We had to go to the v-e-t (shhhh don't scare anyone who can't spell it) two days ago. It was time for our annual hear worm test. They also tested us for the other worms by looking at our poo. Hoomans are so strange sometimes. Anyways, we are healthy- no wormies here! Thank goodness. We didn't like that we had to share the same exam room though, we think we each deserve our own, right?

Our Video of the Ultimate Showdown

Akira and I actually have many ultimate showdowns aka staring contests followed by a sudden attack! In this video, I attack first, but you have to wait a while for the staring contest to end. You may really want to fast forward a bit at times, but we didn't edit out the staring contest so that you can get a true impression of how determined we can be!

The Line Up

The perpetrators in question...those fellow four leggers who have been MONOPOLIZING our Sis's time. Monopolizing we say! And one even has the nerve of being a Shiba Inu (the cat, we understand).
First: Akira's old girlfriend, Sable. It would be one thing if Sis had brought us along to visit her, but no....Sable gets all the belly rubs!

Second: The Cat in Question (herewith referred to as TCQ) AKA Fi-Fi the Fierce. This is the cat who belongs to a sculptor Sis works for part time. She gets away with anything by purring and chasing little mice toys. She likes to jump up on the computer desk when Sis is trying to type to insist on her attention. The attention-monger!

We're Still Alive

Dear Pals,

We have soooo much to update you on and lots of pics and vids, but we haven't had a chance to get on the computer. We usually get Sis or the brother to help, and they've been super busy-- Sis has been dealing with final projects for school and the brother has been working hard. We want to show you our vid of our staring contest, and we have obtained pics of Sis with another shiba inu, and a pic of the cat in question that Sis has spent some time with. Cuz, Cuz, and more Cuz

I am still having lots of fun with Mr. Cuz. In fact, I haven't really been playing with the rest of my toys lately. Maybe I'd better spend some time with them so they don't get lonely. After Akira couldn't chew the feet off right away, he hasn't been as interested in Cuz lately. He brought it to Daddy when he came in the house the other day, but that's just cause he likes to give the humans something when they've been gone a little while. That's okay, more Cuz time for me!!

Just Us and the Cuz

Hey there dog blog pals! We had such a great weekend with Sis! She played with us and cuddled with us and gave us kisses! Like Shiro said, she also brought us home a brand new Cuz toy!

I'm just hanging out underneath the table and chairs. The chair rungs are just the right height for me to rest my head on! Yes, those worn spots are spots I gnawed on when I was a puppy. I can't help the rungs are also just the right width to chew on like a bone, can I? Anyways, I don't do that anymore, that was just a puppy phase. I'm a big boy now. I will be five years old in April!

Sis came home this weekend and brought us new treats and a new toy! She says it is a Cuz. He can walk and jump and bounce and roll and squeak! He is lots of fun! Here are some pictures of us and our new Cuz!

Akira Rides to the Park

Today I got to go for a car ride. The ride to the kennel and the ride to one of the parks is exactly the same until you get to a certain stop light, then you turn left to the kennel or right to the park. So I was paying close attention until we made it past the light. Turns out we (Mom and me) were going to the park to walk with Mom's friend from work. Mom said she noticed my whole body tense up, then relax when the car turned right. I generally do not mind the kennel, but Shiro wasn't with me, and it is hard to sleep there with all the catching up we do with the other dogs. We tend to carry on all night over there. The park was a nice excursion today. And I always love a nice car ride (well, the 5 1/2 hr drive between Ohio and Maryland I used to go one was a little much). I don't know why Shiro gets so nervous riding in the car. He's ridden since he was a pup, but has never grown to like it any more. I find it exciting when we drive new places, and when we are at familiar areas, I am able to relax and let the car movement rock me to sleep. Speaking of sleep, it's almost midnight, so Shiro and I are going to call it a night. We are not sure what happened to the snow dog pictures...we found some more, but none as good as those. We'll look more though...

Secret Post

Hi Akira and Shiro's dog-blog-pals! This is the boys' Sis, Sarah. I posted because I read that some of you have a Cuz toy-- do you like this? I picked one up for the boys today at Petco when I went to get them new sensitive stomach treats, as I noticed they were out. I just got them one for now because even if I get them two they will decide which one is better and fight over that one anyways. I got them a green "good Cuz." Do you think they will like this? Don't tell them, it's a surprise, okay?

Friday-Saturday Update

Our Sis stayed over all night last night. She got home in the afternoon, and first she played tug-of-war with me out in the snow! Then she gave us a carob chip cookie to share. And she rubbed my belly lots and I layed my head on her lap while she scratched me all over and sang me Akira-songs. We sure do miss our Sis when she's not here, but it is really nice when she is here!

Sis came home and I was so happy to see her I gave her kisses all over her face and ears and hands. She scratched me all over like I like and played with me with the blinky ball and the nubby ball and the green ring and the blue holey roller and the galileo bone. Then she suggested maybe I have too many toys, which I resented, so she said she was sorry that actually I don't have enough toys, which I agree with and we made up.

Year of the Pig

In honor of the year of the Pig for Chinese New Year, we'd like to recommend a book for those of you dogs who enjoy a good yarn from time to time. This is a memoir called The Good Good Pig: The Extraordinary Life of Christopher Hogwood, by Sy Montgomery. Here is a link: http://www.goodgoodpig.com/ This book has everything: drama, comedy, sadness, hope, and how an animal who wasn't even supposed to live grew to bring people closer together than ever before possible. Plus there's a dog in the book, too, so that was a highlight.
